Gary Henricksen | President, Owner, Consultant
For the last 10 years I’ve been teaching nonprofits how to raise money through direct mail and email. As board chair for the Keene, NH YMCA I lead a $10 million campaign to build a new Y. I’ve served as Vice Chair of the Grace Cottage Hospital Foundation and I’m on the Land for Good Board of Advisors. I started my career as an engineer in Silicon Valley and then spent 25 years marketing technology companies. I love working with fundraisers and speaking at conferences on fundraising. LinkedIn.
Brett Morrison | Consultant and Director of Nonprofit Practice
I spent my first decade of professional life teaching in the classrooms, athletic fields, and dorms of independent schools, and I remain a teacher at heart. While Major Gift Officer at Concord Academy (Concord, MA), I worked with the 25th Reunion Classes and Senior Parent Gift programs to establish new benchmarks in participation and giving. As Director of Development at Long Trail School (Dorset, VT), I improved the parent giving and major donor program. With the Student Conservation Association (SCA), my work included corporate, foundation, and individual giving in New England and New York. I currently serve as a class agent for my Dartmouth class, on the board of Strolling of the Heifers (Brattleboro, VT), Riverwalk (Manchester, VT), fundraising committee of the West River Trail, and I remain involved in community and economic development initiatives in my hometown of Vernon, VT. Darin Shaw | Development Copywriter
There is no feeling like connecting donors to causes they are passionate about. I joined Five Maples to help fundraisers raise money to support important missions and accomplish vital work. I’m an ordained minister with an M.Div. and I served 21 years in pastoral ministry before trading pulpit for pen.
Carol Martin | Operations Manager
As Operations Manager, I oversee several departments: data, lettershop, fulfillment and warehousing and logistics. Five Maples lets me combine my operations experience from both large (think aerospace industry large) and small businesses, challenging me with troubleshooting and problem solving alongside some great people. I recently renovated a turn-of-the-century home in Brattleboro, and have moved on to finishing my “new” Vermont house. LinkedIn.
Jillian Hobday | Director of Creative & Client Services
I am a Creative Director, designer, copy editor, marketer, and I manage the Five Maples project management team. As the marketing manager for The Salvation Army of Augusta (Georgia, that is) and several for-profit companies, I integrate graphic design, brand management, strategic planning, public relations, and social marketing. After getting my journalism degree, I started my career as a reporter and graphic designer. LinkedIn.
Dawn Brennan | Client Project Manager
Having been with Five Maples since 2013 assisting clients with organizing their appeals, I specialize in complex mail merges and segmentation—go ahead, challenge me! Reminiscent of my 10+ years of customer service, my favorite part of my job is the relationships I build with my clients while helping them. I recently relocated to Connecticut from Vermont, so I spend my free time exploring fun things to do with my family in our new state—except skiing or snowboarding. I’m one of the few life-long New Englanders who has never tried. LinkedIn.
Elyse Carter | Client Project Manager, Content Creator
Working at Five Maples lets me combine my 18+ years of experience in customer service with learning more about all the amazing organizations in my community. I love that VT gives me unlimited access to unique outdoor activities right in my backyard. When I’m inside, I’m usually sharing the couch with my dog, Burger, and reading a book on the Civil War, or fighting the battle to end orca and cetacean captivity at marine parks. Someday I’ll see an orca breach in front of me in the open ocean.
Kayla Hornbrook | Client Project Manager
I joined Five Maples in 2016, bringing a background in scheduling, planning, training, and bookkeeping. Since then I’ve become a Certified Direct Mail Professional, making me better able to assist nonprofits in improving the lives in their communities. I spend my free time with my son, Niko, and am also an avid social justice and humanitarian advocate. I also learned how to indoor rock climb, and after a slow first descent, I’ve conquered my fear of heights. LinkedIn.
Ginny Ricker | Accounts Payable & Receivable, Client Project Manager
After many years of working for commercial printers, I transitioned to Five Maples where I assist clients with their mailing projects as well as handle accounts payable and receivables. I have gotten to know some really great people and no day is ever exactly the same. When I’m not performing my duties as Treasurer of a small nonprofit, I’m reading mysteries, “gardening” (more like digging in the dirt and hoping the plants grow), and monitoring my cat’s Facebook page.
Cody Brown | Data Processor Supervisor
At Five Maples, I juggle coordinating IT efforts, managing the Data Processing team, as well as maintaining our website. I love the challenge of making our variable data printing as unique as possible through working with the data and solving programming problems. Outside of work, I am hiking, shooting, or saving the world (from my Xbox). You can find me at a heavy metal show by following my laugh—it earned me the “Best Laugh” superlative in high school. LinkedIn.
Marvin Bentley II
Data Processor, Information Security Coordinator, IT Systems Administrator
In addition to handling data work on client projects, I help the technology and systems at Five Maples run smoothly and safely. The most satisfying part of my job is finding solutions to problems—when that one puzzling topic just clicks into place. Just like I have several different responsibilities at work, in my “free time” I run my own fudge company, “Vermont Homestyle,” where I get to experiment with recipes and flavors, and am designing a board game with my son that we hope to distribute together.
Kendra Kilian | Data Processor
At Five Maples, I help to prepare clients’ mailing data for shipping. With my degree in Computer Information Systems from Bellevue University, working with computers and data is right up my alley. I’ll never get bored with the seasons up here, because the scenery is ever changing. I’ll also never get bored with the 1986 film Labyrinth—I’ve seen it more times than I can count and have an autographed photo from the film signed by David Bowie.
Mike Logerfo | Data Processor/Graphic Designer
Handling data and design work gives me the unique opportunity to be hands on with a project from concept to actual physical piece. I strive to create eye-catching pieces that help engage with donors and tackle data problems to produce the best results. There is a certain joy holding the final printed piece and knowing it will help nonprofits and companies grow. Also look for me at karaoke night—I can do a mean cover of the Bee Gees’ “Staying Alive.”
Michael Parker | Printshop & Digital Prepress
I bring over 35 years of experience in the offset and digital printing business, with 22 years at the same company in the Boston area. Five Maples provides me with a variety of work, and it’s always a welcome challenge when a new project comes across my desk. I love all the New England seasons (even winter)—as a native, you don’t really have a choice! I stay active since serving in the Army National Guard from 1979-1990, mountain biking and hiking, playing in a horseshoe league in the summer and a few winter bowling leagues. LinkedIn.
Michele Tracy | Production Manager
My long history of experience in the production of mailings goes back to 1988 with Five Maples. As Production Manager, I am responsible for our flexible crew of full and part time employees, shop scheduling and production quality. I’m still expanding my knowledge every day, and have passed the Postal 473 exam to become more familiar with postal rules and regulations. My longevity comes with the “said-with-love” nickname my coworkers have given me – The Cryptkeeper.
